Trace and Tell your Family's Empire Stories
IntroductionHi, I'm a documentary film maker based in Mumbai, India. I am exploring the tradition of maintaining Hindu ancestral records at some unique sites in India, hence am looking for a character whose journey this film could follow. These are distinct, quaint records preserved in the country, and make for a vast source of genealogy. My research is to look for somebody with a 'mixed' background who wishes to trace their roots- a Britisher with some Indian Hindu connect, as this will lend a certain sense of historical significance to his/her search and help create a strong cross cultural connect. Considering I am looking at Hindu records, it becomes the starting point for my character- the requirement of a Hindu link in the family tree. Being produced by a leading production house in India, to be filmed within this year, this documentary invites you to undertake a fascinating journey backwards. Write in with your story, and we shall research it. We all might stumble upon a serendipity!
Browser by chapterWe invite you to journey with us to trace your family tree in India, journeying through a maze of records preserved at innocuous sites. Write in with your engaging stories- if possible, they should enable us to look at a larger theme; social, cultural or economic instead of limiting the search to a 'person'. We might research your story, and bring you right here- so we can dig up and piece together the missing links, together. This is centered around the records born out of Hindu traditions, so do let us know of the Hindu link in your ancestory, and all existing details when you write in. We look forward to hearing from Empire's Children.
