Empire's Children

At its height the British Empire included territories on all continents and comprised about a quarter of the world's population and area, an estimated 458 million people and over 35 million square kilometres of land. Here you can read Empire stories, both of celebrities and members of the public. These include people who left Britain to make lives for themselves around the Empire as well as those who came to settle in Britain from former colonies. If you register with the site, you can share your own Empire story. Anyone with an experience of the Empire, be it through work, travel, education, family, conflict, politics, arts, language, or the military, is welcome to contribute.
